June 24, 1981
It was about 6pm. Six children were hanging out when they saw an "incredibly beautiful
woman"[1] standing on the hill behind them. Oddly,
She had a child in her arms. The woman said nothing. She did, however, gesture for
the children to come closer. The children did not. They went home instead. They were
too surprised and frightened to investigate further.
Day 2
The next day, curiosity got the better of the children. Four of them from the previous
day returned to the hill. These were accompanied by two others who had not been there
on the first day.
All of a sudden, there was a flash of light. The woman appeared - sans child. She
was smiling and joyful. She again gestured for them to come closer.
The children felt encouraged this day. They went up to Her and fell to their knees
praying - Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. The woman prayed too - except for the
Hail Mary.
After a brief discussion, the woman said, "God be with you my angels!" and left.
Day 3
Third day. Same time. Same place. The children were very excited this day. They headed
towards the hill hopeful that they would again meet the woman. Their excitement, though,
was mixed with fear. How would this all end, they wondered.
As they approached the hill, the children, and those with them, saw 3 flashes of light.
It was a sign indicating the woman's whereabouts - higher up the hill then on previous
days.
When the children approached, the woman disappeared. But, when they prayed, She reappeared.
At the urging of some older women in the village, one of the children brought with
her holy water. When the woman reappeared, the girl threw the holy water at Her and
said, "If you are Our Blessed Mother, please stay, and if you are not, go away from
us." Our Lady smiled and remained. Then, one of the other children asked Her name.
She replied, "I am the Blessed Virgin Mary."
As the children went down the hill this day, Our Lady appeared once more. Behind Her
was a cross. She said, "Peace, peace, peace - and only peace!" After which, Our Lady
repeated twice, "Peace must reign between God and man and between men!" She was crying
when She said this. Then, She left.
The (proverbial) fourth day
Since June 24, 1981, Our Lady has appeared to these same children daily. In fact,
there have only been 5 days when none of the children saw Her.
In that time, She has provided a series of messages to be shared with the people.
Although there are many messages, they can be summed up in 5 themes: peace, faith,
conversion, prayer and fasting. The greatest of these is peace.
