Mir Movement |

I founded Mir Movement in 2004 following my first and only pilgrimage to Medjugorje. I had gone to Medjugorje to ask Mother Mary's help in discerning my call to the priesthood. I returned with a new mission in mind: spreading Our Lady's message of "peace, peace, peace - and only peace!" For the next year and a half, I delivered presentations about Medjugorje to schools and Church groups on a part-time basis. In 2006, motivated by an overwhelmingly positive response to the message, I attempted a nationwide initiative called "10 Million Steps for Peace." The idea was simple enough: I wanted to share the story of Medjugorje and encourage "peace, peace, peace - and only peace!" across Canada; I figured a good way to do this would be on foot; I estimated it would take about 10 million steps to cross the country; I sought to have each of my steps sponsored for 10 cents; the million dollars raised would be used to fund new Mir Movement projects. To make a long story short, "10 Million Steps for Peace" failed: I mismanaged the project and, by the time I had walked from Vancouver BC to Calgary AB, I was forced to discontinue the walk for financial reasons. I spent the next 8 months teaching English in Busan, South Korea. During this period, I completely reorganized Mir Movement (see "Hey, what happened to the 'old' Mir Movement"...) While in Busan, I felt moved to once again attempt a cross-Canada walk in order to carry out Mir Movement's mission nationally. So, on April 1, 2008, I again set out from Vancouver - solo. My 2008 cross-Canada Walk-n-talk ended in success: I arrived in Halifax NS on October 19, 2008. Currently, I spend most of my time delivering presentations about my cross-Canada adventure: a means by which I continue to share the story of Medjugorje and encourage "peace, peace, peace - and only peace!" |
