I have been journeying as an advisor and, lately, spiritual director, with Joseph Palko for over a year as he has considered a vocation to the priesthood. Joseph is an honourable man with deep faith and an ardent desire to spread the message of God’s Kingdom of justice and peace. I firmly believe that Joseph has a call to the priesthood and that he should pursue this call in a seminary or other formative setting. Joseph needs to minimize his old debts before he can enter any seminary or formation program, and so will be undertaking various jobs and tasks to achieve this.
By virtue of this letter, I wish to indicate my support for Joseph’s discernment of the priesthood. He is truly seeking to know God’s will for his life and ardently wants to fulfill it. His seriousness of purpose is underlined by his deep spirituality and commitment to prayer, his maturity, his spirit of reverence and gratitude for all he has received, and his spirit of peace and joy as he goes forward.
