To whom it may concern: I am writing on behalf of Mr. Joseph Palko. He is a young man who has been discerning his vocation to priestly and religious life for a long time. Finally with prayer and help from his spiritual director, his love for St. Francis and his message of peace in the world, Joseph has decided to join the Capuchin Franciscan Order. I have been in contact with him for some time and I believe that he surely has a vocation and that he should pursue his discernment to achieve his dream. For admission to our Order, we require that a person be prayerful, love the Catholic Church, is not married and has no debt. Joseph has all these qualifications but he also has a debt. He is employed and does speaking engagements that provide a small stipend. He believes that he would be able to pay for most of his debt before our entrance date of January 1, 2010. However any help that could be given to him financially would help to ensure his ability to begin this year and not have to wait another year. His family will be helping out as well. If a K.C. council or some other Church or ethnic association takes the time to listen to the faith story of this courageous young man, I am sure that you will want to help him in fulfilling his dream as soon as possible. You could make a donation or pledges for 2009-2010. That would be acceptable to us as long as we know his debt will be provided for in the near future. If you desire to make a donation on his behalf but would require a tax receipt, we would ask you to make the cheque to Capuchins of Central Canada and we would give you a tax receipt and see that the money is given to Joseph to help him out. I hope that you will come forward with your generosity. At a time when we have a shortage of priests we must do that special effort to invite and support young men who will follow Christ in our time of need.
